Leonidas

Leonidas is one of the newest Chocolate shops in Vancouver. They have locations world wide, in places as far as Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

Located in the Vancouver Convention Center, once you open the doors , you can smell the chocolate in the air!

Their chocolates are flown in from Brussels, Belgium and their selection of chocolates is quite large.

I purchased a SocialShopper coupon that was good for a "Chocolate Lovers Package for 2." It included 2 hot chocolates, 2 Belgian waffles, 2 chocolate dipped strawberries and 4 Belgian chocolates.

For a store specializing in Chocolates, I was surprised at the limited selection of Hot Chocolate flavors.

We opted for the Dark Hot Chocolate and Milk Hot Chocolate.
The server informed us that the Dark Hot Chocolate would be very bitter, but good dark chocolate isn't it?

Neither of us enjoyed Dark Hot Chocolate (left). Although made from Chocolate (not from powder), it had an odd powder-ish texture to it. There wasn't enough chocolate in the beverage, resulting in a weak, bland chocolate milk. If there was more Chocolate in it, it might have tasted much better.

The Milk Hot Chocolate(right) was much better. It was smooth, and rich but again, not enough Chocolate! Another cup of weak Chocolate milk.

I'm not a big fan of Chocolate but there just was not enough Chocolate in the drinks for me. This is just personal preference but ChilliPepper, also agreed with me.

The Belgian Waffles are locally sourced, and being pre-made, they were pretty good. There were bits of sugar in each piece and not overly dry. They were a bit too bland for me and weren't crisp enough (understandable since they are not made fresh).
The chocolate Strawberries were yummy! The sweetness of the chocolate and the tartness of the Strawberries were well balanced. Needless to say, I ended up eating ChilliPepper's strawberry as well. Hehehe :)

As part of the package, we got to choose 4 Belgian chocolates. There were so many, it was hard to decide! It took us a good 10 minutes to decide. So indecisive!
Perhaps it was by chance, but we didn't enjoy any of the Chocolates we chose. As for quality, let's just say if you snuck these into a box of Pot of Gold, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.
