Death by Chocolate was once a pretty successful dessert shop, with locations in Downtown, Burnaby, Surrey and beyond. These days, the only location remaining is on West Broadway. What happened?
When we arrived, we were the only customers there and we had to wait for the server to come out.

The cake selection was very limited and aside from Cakes, there were Big City Cupcakes available and Ghiradelli Hot Chocolate. There weren't any "Death by Chocolate " specialty drinks I was hoping to order.
MissChef and I shared a Chocolate Cheesecake. This was one sad and expensive slice cheese cake!The cheesecake lacked richness and "cheese cake" flavor. The chocolate was underwhelming, I could barely detect it was there.
The graham crust was soggy and moist--disappointing.
I won't be coming here to satisfy my sweet tooth again!
Wow, 31% like it on urbanspoon. I don't think I've ever been. There was one in Ironwood before, and I THINK for a very short while, there was on in Richmond Centre. Very short-lived though!
ReplyDeleteYes I totally agree with you. Although your cake doesn't look half as bad as mine... I wonder why this place is still open. It seems like they're just counting down the days till their lease expires or something because honestly they don't seem to care about quality or cleanliness.
